Mrs. Betty Mae Byess Mrs. Betty Mae Byess, age 92, of Somerville Alabama passed away on Monday September 5, 2022. Mrs. Byess was born on March 18, 1930 to Leonard Franklin Bruce and Eula Rosetta Hammontree. She was married to the late William David “Bill” Byess Sr. and was a member of Brindlee Mountain Baptist Church. Mrs. Byess enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, and many other crafts. She enjoyed working in her garden and tending her flowers, and she loved going camping at Guntersville Lake with her family.
Mrs. Byess is survived by her sons; William David Byess Jr. and Dean Franklin Byess and his wife Margaret, daughter; Angela Stephanie Byess-Brasseale, brothers; Roy Bruce and his wife Paulette and Gene Bruce and his wife Eliana, sisters; Shirley Chumbly and her husband Tracy, Violet Morrison, and Gail Garrison and her husband Tommy, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Byess is preceded in death by her husband; William David “Bill” Byess Sr. parents; Leonard and Eula Bruce, brother; James Bruce, and sister; Ruth Ledford.
A visitation with the family of Mrs. Byess will be on Wednesday September 7, 2022 at Brindlee Mountain Chapel from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Services will be on Thursday September 8, 2022 at 11:00 am at Brindlee Mountain Chapel.
Escorting Mrs. Byess to her final resting place at Union Grove Cemetery are Robin Kent, Donnie Lawrence, Terry Hamilton, Josh Bondeson, David Sims, Don Hester, Hunter Hester, and Joe Pairtz. Honorary pallbearer is Tex Byess.
