Billy James Sansom, age 85 of Decherd, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at The Waters of Winchester. Billy was born on February 14, 1937, just down the road from where he spent the majority of his childhood and all of his adult years. During that time, he worked the main line that ran from Nashville to Chattanooga and ended his career in Cowan as a diesel pusher helping trains make it over Sewanee Mountain into Sherwood. Billy and his wife, Becky, enjoyed spending their time traveling in their motorhome. Along the way, they met many people and made long lasting friendships. He also enjoyed playing a good game of Rook, even if it lasted late into the night. Although he never had children of his own, he loved his fur babies Paco, Coco, and Bubba. Billy is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Becky (Vann) Sansom; stepson, Jeff (Ruth) Minor; step grandchildren, Jordon Minor and Katie (Jerry) Walter; five step great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Rev. Thomas Vann; several cousins; special friends, Tim (Melissa) Gilliam and Joe Dale Little; and beloved fur baby, Bubba.
