Weekend Accidents In Madison And Decatur Counties Result In Deaths Of Two People

MADISON COUNTY-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a single-vehicle accident near Hazel Green that has taken the life of one person on Sunday, November 14:

“A single-vehicle crash that occurred at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 14 has claimed the life of a Toney man.

Brandon J. Billips, 35, was fatally injured when the 2015 Mercedes CLA250 he was driving left the roadway and struck a pole before overturning. Billips was not utilizing a seat belt and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on Carter Grove Road approximately eight miles west of Hazel Green, in Madison County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”

“A two-vehicle crash that occurred at 7 a.m. Sunday, November 14, has claimed the life of a Sommerville man.

Junior R. Melson, 75, was fatally injured when the 1997 Ford Ranger pickup he was driving collided head-on with a 2021 Jeep Compass driven by Shreei Sears, 39, of Decatur. Melson was not utilizing a seat belt and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred East Upper River Road approximately four miles east of Priceville, in Morgan County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
