Douglas Earl Maples

Mr. Douglas Earl Maples, age 71, passed from this life Monday July 19, 2021, at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN from an extended illness.  A resident of the Sparkman Community of Van Buren County, he was born on March 14, 1950 to the late Earl Eugene and Imogene Faye Rogers Maples.  He served two tours in Vietnam as a Sargent in the U.S. Army and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife; Shelia Divine Dodson Maples, brothers; Denny and Mike Maples, brother-in-law; Billy Dodson.

Doug is survived by daughter; Tammy (Wayne) Seamons of Spencer, son; Timmy Maples of Doyle, brothers, and sister; Steve (Jackie) Maples of Jasper, Cindy (Andy) Earl of Cleveland, and Jerry (Gail) Rogers of Soddy Daisy, grandchildren; Dakota Seamons, Eli and Timothy Maples and Kane Fuqua, great-grandchildren; Raylon, Rynn and Remy Seamons, special granddaughter; Cierston Seamons Melton, special family member; Shelly Maples. Nieces, nephews, and a large extended family also survives.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 21, 2021 at 3:00pm in the Layne Chapel with Bro. Steve Breedlove and Bro. Tracy Curtis officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencer Town Cemetery. Visitation times are Tuesday July 20th 4:00pm to 9:00pm and Wednesday 21st 10:00am till time of service at 3:00pm.
