Joy WhirleyJoy Gay Whirley, 76, of Burnsville, MS passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021, at her residence. There will be a visitation at Magnolia Funeral Home – East Chapel on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Magnolia Funeral Home – East Chapel. Bro. Brad Marlar will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Little Flock Cemetery in Burnsville, MS. The pallbearers will be Chad Marlar, Brad Marlar, Patrick Bobo, Johnny Page, David Meeks, and Ricky Whirley. Joy was born in Jasper, AL April 4, 1944 to the late Henry and Bertha Robinson Portzer. She loved working outdoors, gardening, canning, cooking, and spending time with family and friends – especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, Phillip Whirley (Michelle), and Kevin Whirley all of Burnsville, MS; daughter, Pamela Whirley of Burnsville, MS; three grandchildren, Brianna Qualls (Jerry), Ashley Hodgin (Josh), and Anna Beth Whirley; six great-grandchildren, Makalyn Walker, Luke Qualls, Mason Byrd, Feylin Hodgin, Gracie Qualls, and Gunnar Hodgin; brother, Gerald Portzer of Jasper, AL; and special niece, Phyllis Aaron of Jasper, AL; other nieces, nephews, relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Jessie Whirley; grandchild, Adrianne Byrd; parents, Henry and Bertha Robinson Portzer; brother, Ottis Portzer and sisters, Jackqueline Seago and Ola Mae Townley. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Joy G. Whirley.
