Lora Tucker of Tanner, Alabama has been welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2nd Timothy 7)

Her life was one of service and caring for others. She spent a career as an elementary school teacher and took time away from that career to be a stay-at-home mom. As a teacher, she touched the lives of hundreds of students. After she retired from Tanner Elementary School, she enjoyed meeting adults who she taught in elementary school. As the older generations needed help, she cared for her grandmother, her parents, and her aunts and uncles. For many years, she was an active member of First Baptist Church of Decatur and then transferred her membership to Tanner Baptist Church in recent years. “Grandma” was a title she loved the most.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Marlin, and her parents, Haston and Maurine Poore. She is survived by her son Bruce, daughter-in-law Laura, grand-daughters Katelynn and Lindsey, her brother Dale Poore (Anita), and several nieces and nephews.

Even though her family would delight in handshakes and hugs from friends and family, COVID19 makes that too dangerous. So, regretfully, no public funeral will be conducted. Instead, friends who would like to share words of support may send an email to: Lora.Tucker@knology.net. A private graveside service will be held at Cullman Memory Gardens.

The loving support provided by her team of caregivers and by Compassus Hospice Service will forever be deeply appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to Tanner Baptist Church (www.fbctanner.org) or the American Parkinson Disease Association (www.apdaparkinson.org).
