up for a Veterans Day concert at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in

The Monday Nov. 11 concert will raise money to send military veterans to
Washington, D.C. The concert, which is being organized by the City of
Tuscumbia, is the brainchild of Mayor Kerry Underwood.

The concert starts at 6 p.m. Pre-concert activities begin at 4:30 p.m. A
fireworks show will follow the concert. Admission is $20. Tickets are

Washington, D.C. area.

Underwood said he came up with the idea for the concert while visiting
Washington and seeing a group of elderly veterans touring military monuments
during an Honor Flight event.

“There were people lined up in a victory line for the veterans, who were in
wheelchairs,” Underwood said. “As the veterans were pushed through the
victory line, everyone was cheering for them and hugging them and thanking
them for their service. It was very touching. I immediately thought I have
to do something to help this organization.”

Underwood said the concert is going to be awesome. “It’s going to be fun and
a great way to honor and help our veterans.”

Worley, whose hits include “Have You Forgotten”, “I Miss My Friend” and
“Awful, Beautiful Life” is a UNA graduate. Lawson, owner of Wishbone Studios
in Muscle Shoals, has written numerous hit songs, including “I Left
Something Turned on At Home” by Trace Atkins and “Learning as You Go” by
Rick Trevino.

Concert goers should take a lawn chair or a blanket.  Concessions will be
available. Underwood plans to make the Veterans Day concerts an annual event
in Tuscumbia.
