Jean Catherine Baites Riddle – Obituary

Jean Catherine Baites Riddle passed away at home with her daughter and son-in-law on May 18, 2019. Jean was born March 1st 1916 to William Hammond and Mattie Clark Baites in Toney, Alabama. She lived all of her life in Madison County and graduated from Hazel Green High School in 1935.

 

She is proceeded in death by her parents, two baby brothers, her husband Carl Cedric Riddle, brothers John Edwin Baites, James Robert Baites, William Lawrence Baites, and sister Martha Pearl Baites Towery.  She is survived by her faithful daughter Jeanie Riddle Shockley and son-in-law Powell Montgomery Shockley, granddaughters Monte Jean Shockley Britton (Jason) Sarah Elizabeth Shockley Rogers (Danny). Four Great-grandchildren,  Brett Catherine Britton, Carl Russel Montgomery Britton, Carlee Ann Rogers, and Tate Shockley Rogers. 13 nieces and nephews & numerous great nieces and nephews.

Jean was an avid bowler until she was 92. Loved by many; she was a great mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, & great grandmother. She will be missed by many.

 

The family will receive friends Monday, May 20, 2019 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Spry Funeral Home and on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 10:00 am until 11:30 am. Graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 12:00 noon at Maple Hill Cemetery.
