Katie Mae Hill was born October 25, 1927, to the late Irene Darby Oates and Paul Oates in Barton. Katie died peacefully on January 31, 2019, at Cottage of the Shoals Nursing Home.
She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and united with Zion No. 1 Missionary Baptist Church in Barton.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving and devoted son, Preston Eugene (Lajoyce) Hill, Leighton; sister, Yvonne Christopher, Hephzibah, Georgia; grandchildren, Eric (Daphanie) Owens, Sheffield, NaTausha Hill, Section, Alabama, Ashley Armstead, Barton; three great-grandchildren. She leaves two dear and loving aunts, Nancy (Robert) Loveless and Mattie (Floyd) Long, Barton; niece, Nora Dunn, Birmingham; nephews, Joseph Nolan, Sheffield, Reggie Oates, Muscle Shoals, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service for Mrs. Hill will be noon Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Zion No. 1 Missionary Baptist Church, Barton. Rev. Karlos Felton officiating. Burial in Zion No. 1 Cemetery, Barton. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. The public viewing will be today, 9 to 8 p.m. Thompson and Son Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, directing.
