James "Buck" Franklin BuchananJames Franklin “Buck” Buchanan, Sr., 68, passed away Monday, December 31, 2018, at NMMC Gilmore-Amory. He was born September 14, 1950, to John H. and Ola Mae Moore Buchanan. He worked as a shipping supervisor in the furniture industry for many years and at Itawamba Industrial Gas before recently retiring from Walmart. He was a member of the Harden’s Chapel United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed wood working.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Bobby Jarrell and Bro. Danny Wilburn officiating. Burial will be in the New Home Cemetery.

Survivors include his son, James “Skip” Buchanan, Jr. (Kim); and two daughters, Denise Young (Bryon) and Kathy Baswell (Dustin), all of Fulton; three sisters, Joyce Pitts (John) of Fulton, Sandy Wilburn (Danny) of the Carolina community, and Johnnie Ashley of Fulton; seven grandchildren, Dustin James Lee Buchanan, Jesse James Bennett, Ariel Buchanan, Gracie Jo Mitchell, Hailey Joann Bennett, Kalie Adams, and John Wayne Young.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Buchanan, on March 2, 2018; his parents; an infant brother; and two sisters, Linda Summerford and Brenda Mitchell.

Pallbearers will be Sidney Pitts, Jesse Bennett, Allen Mayhall, Nathan Wilburn, Will Ashley, and Bobby Earl Ashley. Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse James Bennett, Dustin Buchanan, John Wayne Young, Bronson Pitts, and Charles Mitchell.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 1, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Fulton.
