Nella V. Bassham, age 100 of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at her residence. Mrs. Bassham was born February 24, 1918 in Limestone County to William T. Skeets and Cassie B. Brooks.
Services for Mrs. Bassham are Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. with Terry Lamar and Randy Carter officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery.
She is survived by her children, Douglas Bassham (Earlene), Donald Bassham, Barbara Gwaltney, Thomas Bassham (Janie), Stanley Bassham (Judy), Kenneth Bassham (Mary) and Sharon Brown (James); sisters, Geneva Townsend and Evelyn Jackson; 30 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, Otis Bassham; sons, Charles Bassham, Joseph Bassham and Robert Bassham; sisters, Clara Gooch and Annatolees Haney; brother, Alan Skeets; grandchildren, Barbara Gayle Bassham and Robert D. Bassham, Jr.
Pallbearers are Bradley Griggs, Drew Bassham, Kenny Brown, Jeffrey Bassham, Darrel Johnson, Eric McCurry Bassham, Tim Bassham and Charlie Bassham. Honorary Pallbearer is Roger Dodd.
