Elston Glenn Thornton – Obituary

Elston Glenn Thornton, 88, of Athens, died Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Limestone Health Facility. Services will be noon Friday at Spry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Hughes and Rev. Terry Herston officiating. Burial will be in Thornton/Ingram Cemetery in Rogersville. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until noon at Spry Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Greg Spry, Jimmy Spry, Pat Parker, Levi Parker, Jeff Thornton and Danny Looney.

Mr. Thornton was born February 8, 1930 in Lauderdale County. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and he was retired from the Operations Department at TVA Browns Ferry.

Survived by his wife, Lena Mae Thornton; sons, Stephen Thornton and David Thornton (Rhonda); daughter, Gena Lovell (Keith); granddaughters, Stephanie Hannah (Arron) and Shayna Tollison (Ryan); great-grandchildren, William River Hannah, Makenzie Tollison, Easton Tollison; sisters, Robbie Nell Spry (James) and Betty Ann Parker. Preceded in death by his parents, James Timothy (Jim) and Clemmie (Elaine) Thornton; brothers, James Austin Thornton and Jerry White Thornton; sister, Mary Lois Greer.

Memorials may be made to Gideons International or Hospice of Limestone County.
