Peggy Bean Cooke – Obituary

Peggy Bean Cooke, 88, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2018 at NHC in Lawrenceburg, TN.  Peggy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was an active member at First United Methodist Church.  She was born in High Point, NC.  Peggy worked as an LPN nurse at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC for approximately twenty years.  She will be remembered for her kindness and devotion to others.  Peggy will truly be missed by all who knew her.  She and her family wants to especially thank the staff at NHC Scott and Caris Healthcare for the special care she received in her last years.  She said many times it was like being at a spa.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Johnsie Wade Bean, her husband, Elmer L. Cooke, brother, Johnny and sister, Patricia Hollingsworth.  She is survived by her sons, Jimmie Campbell (Susan), Raleigh, NC, John Kingsbury, Lawrenceburg, TN, daughter, Helen Gladney, Summertown, TN, two step-daughters, Cookie Tankersley (Bill), Lewisburg, TN, Cathy Cunningham (Andy), Brentwood, TN, six grandchildren, Brittany Campbell, Allison Campbell, Robin Rhea, Errica Miller, Laura Brande, Samantha Kingsbury, John Kingsbury, three step-grandchildren, James Tankersley (Cortney), Elizabeth Poarch (Chance), Taylor Cunningham.  Several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews survive.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Monday, November 12, 2018 at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow immediately at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM, with Bill Tankersley officiating.  Interment will follow at Mimosa Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.
