Hazel Nichols Cox went to be with her Lord on Friday, September 21, 2018, at her home. She was born on October 13, 1927 to Edith McAnally Nichols and Marvin Laverne Nichols in Leighton, AL.

Hazel loved to be around her family. She loved laughing, journaling, playing the piano, and reading, especially her Bible. She was a faithful member of Muscle Shoals Baptist Church for 56 years and helped others as her mission work. She graduated from Colbert County High School and attended Northwest Junior College for two years. Her great desire was to be a nurse. While she did not finish a degree, she worked for years in the nursing field helping others.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Charles Nichols, Leonard Nichols, James Nichols, and Marion Junior Nichols; and her grandson, Jason Cox.

Her survivors include her daughters, Dr. Wanda Cox Doss (Ken) and Cathy Cox Evans (Mike); brother, Eddie Nichols (Carolyn); six grandchildren, Jeannine Boone, Amber Kent, Andrew Doss, Katherine Doss, Kevin Cox, and Alan Cox; great-grandchildren, Peyton Kent, Kailey Kent, Aubrey Elliott, Victoria Elliott, and Lillian Doss; many friends, cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews; and last but not least, she leaves behind her faithful tabby, Tiger.

Hazel was so blessed to have wonderful caregivers who loved her as her family did. We are so thankful for Marsha Hopper, Nicole Stoddard, and Diane Johnson.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be at Colbert Memorial, Tuscumbia, on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 from 11-1p.m. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens. There will be no graveside service. Officiating will be Brother Doug Farris.
