Ruth Powell – Obituary

The funeral service for Ruth Powell, age 89 of Lineville, will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville. Burial will follow in the Clay County Memory Gardens.

 

Mrs. Powell passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the Clay County Hospital. She was a native of Eclectic, Alabama but had lived most of her life in Clay County. Mrs. Powell worked as a supervisor for Higgins Manufacturing for over 38 years. She enjoyed travelling, camping, cooking, sewing, watching sports on TV and taking care of her homeplace, both inside and out. Mrs. Powell had been a member of Landmark Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Cooper (Dan) of Oxford; her son, Anthony Powell of Lineville; four grandchildren: Tammy Kaemmerer (Lynn) of Oxford, Tim Cooper of Titus, AL, Damaris Jimenez of Ashville, NC and Elijah Jordan of Atlanta and one great-granddaughter, Danielle Kaemmerer.

 

Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her parents: Henry Clay Peoples and Mary Lula McGill Peoples; her husband of 52 years, Donald E. Powell; her sisters: Luverne Miller and Ruby Peoples and her brothers: Bill and James Fullbright.

 

Pallbearers will be Ron Kidd, Alan Shaddix, Dennis Forman, William Pugh, Tim Cooper and Lynn Kaemmerer.

 

The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Clay County Rescue Squad, 453 Taylor Road, Lineville, AL 36266.
