Aubrey Wooten Anderson – Obituary

Funeral service for Colonel (Ret.) Aubrey Wooten Anderson, age 92, of Fayetteville, TN, will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 16, 2018, at Fayetteville First Baptist Church with Dr. Jon Hathcock officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Colonel (Ret.) Anderson was born on August 14, 1925 in Bell Buckle, TN to the late Charles and Fannie Lovell Anderson. He grew up in Shelbyville where he attended school before enlisting in the United States Army during WWII. He attended Command General Staff College and served in the United States Army and National Guard . He worked for 30 years in Civil Service at Redstone Arsenal. He was also the Lincoln County Industrial Recruiter, Republican Party Chairman, Mayor of Fayetteville City 1981-9182, member of Fayetteville Lion’s Club, and Church Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Fayetteville First Baptist Church. Colonel (Ret.) Anderson passed away on April 13, 2018 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Polly Anderson; sons, Robert W. (late Susanne) Anderson of Brentwood, TN and Michael B. Anderson of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Pat Anderson (Michael) Flowers of Birmingham, AL; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and daughter-in-law, he was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

Visitation with the family will be held at 11:00 Am until 1:00 PM on Monday, April 16, 2018, at Fayetteville First Baptist Church.
