Mr. Franklin Leroy Smith, 68, passed away Monday March 5, 2018 at the VA Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He was born in Miami , Florida on October 10, 1949 to Cleo Edward and Betty Jane Smith who preceded him in death along with his brother, Cleo Edward Smith Jr.; sister, Renee Smith.
He was of the Catholic faith and was a US Army veteran of Vietnam. He was a fireman, Locksmith, EMT/Paramedic, Truck Driver and was a photographer in the Army. He has lived in South Carolina before coming to Grundy County about 13 years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lee Davis Smith; sons, Jospeh (Tammy) Skelton, Whitwell and Franklin (Amanda) Smith II, Altamont; daughters, Lisa Marie Skelton, Palmer, and Shelia Skelton, Altamont; brother, Gary Smith (Susan), Saint Luci, FL; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Clayton Jones officiating with burial to follow in the Altamont Cemetery with military honors provided by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard.
