Gwin Allen – Obituary

Gwin Allen, 81, of Town Creek passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Helen Keller Hospital. Visitation will be from 1 till 3 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Terry Settles officiating. Burial will be in Rutherford Cemetery.

A member of the 1954 Hatton Basketball State Championship team, Gwin was a member of Okolona Baptist Church, an avid gardener and he loved the New York Yankees.

Survivors include his daughters, Melissa Harrison (Steve), Denise Parker, Melinda “Lulu” Stephenson (Larry), and Hannah Pool (Chris); grandchildren, Lauren Tidwell (Patrick), Jessica Jones (David), Dylon Parker, Bronson Parker, Scarlett Stephenson, Shadoe Stephenson, Claudia Pool, Claire Pool and Carrie Anna Pool; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Tidwell, Wylan Tidwell, Zainen Jones, Livi Jones, and Easton Jones; sisters, Freda Archer and Carolyn Yarbrough (Jimmy); and his very special friend, Doris Little.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sanford and Etoil Bradford Allen and brother, Laveral Allen.

Pallbearers will be Hillard Murray, Billy Borden, Lowell Motes, Lovis Steadman, David Berryman, Wendell Allen, and Larry Hurst. Honorary pallbearers are Dylon Parker, Bronson Parker, Shadoe Stephenson, and Joey Oliver.
