David Linton Hughes – Obituary

David Linton Hughes, a lifelong resident of Mount Pleasant, TN passed away at his residence on Sunday, January 14, 2018.

David was born on November 3, 1937 to the late Ernest and Lela Ivey Hughes. He was married to his loving wife, Joyce Bassham Hughes for 56 years. He worked his whole life in the asphalt paving business and owned Hughes Construction Company. His family was his greatest joy in life, especially his grandchildren. He was their biggest supporter and fan. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant. His hobbies included farming and cheering on the Vanderbilt Commodores. He was loved dearly and will be truly missed.

David leaves behind his loving wife: Joyce Bassham Hughes; Sons: Chris (Rita) Hughes, Eric Hughes and Stephen (Rachel) Hughes; Grandchildren: Christopher (Fiance Stephanie), Allyson, Linton, Jackson, Hardin, Bennett, Chandler and Willa Hughes as well as his sister: Ernestine (Ross) Whitley.

The Hughes family will visit with friends on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from 4:00pm until 8:00 pm at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 2:00pm at Polk Memorial Gardens with Brother Frank Webb officiating.

Pallbearers are his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers include: Rick Whitley, Jack Taylor, Derek Boyd, William Grooms, W.C. Johnson and Dr. Charles Ball.

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Charles Ball for his loving care.
