Mable Idella Smith – Obituary

Funeral service for Mrs. Mable Idella Smith, age 94, of Fayetteville, TN, will be conducted Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at 1:00 PM at Higgins Funeral home with Dr. John Hathcock. Burial will follow next to her first husband, Charlie Johnson, in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith was born on May 30, 1923 in Madison County, AL to the late Marion Jackson and Hessie Zonnie Presley Wilburn. She worked as a store clerk for Carter’s Drug Store and Piggly Wiggly. She was a lifetime and active member of First Baptist Church of Fayetteville. Thank you to the First Baptist Church family for the care that was given to Mrs. Smith that enhanced her life. Mrs. Smith passed away on January 5, 2018 at Lincoln Care Center.

Survivors include her sisters, Mary Chisholm, and Shirley (Dave) Dreitzler, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her first husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her second husband, James Clifford Smith; brothers, Bobby and Dewey “Buddy” Wilburn; and sisters, Novella Carter, Louise Wilburn, Ruby Potter, and Jean Williams. A special thank you to Mr. George Williams for the care that he has given to Mrs. Smith over the years.

Visitation with the family will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM.
