Johnny Rutherford, 59, of Moulton passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. Visitation will be from 6 till 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the funeral home with Larry Crumpton officiating. Burial will be in Rutherford Cemetery.
Johnny rode his bicycle everywhere he went. He loved hunting, Christmas, and hanging out at the Moulton Fire Department where he was an honorary member. Johnny also loved being with his family and visiting his friends. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist church where he was baptized 32 years ago on December 15, 1985.
Survivors include his brother, Oneal Rutherford of Moulton; sisters, Betty Curtis (Charles) of Moulton, and Linda Gail Rutherford of Moulton; nieces, Lynn Thrasher (Keith) and April Terry; nephews, Chris Curtis (Nora) and David Dutton (Molly); great nieces, Kayla, Savannah and Lillianna; and great nephews, Dustin, Justin, Zack, Dawson and Xander.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Annie Muston Rutherford; sisters, Martha Jean Dutton and Doris Fay Rutherford; and brothers, Leon “Red” Rutherford and Price Rutherford.
Pallbearers will be Keith Thrasher, Dustin Thrasher, Justin Thrasher, Zack Terry, David Dutton and Don Parker. Honorary pallbearers are Dawson Terry and Xander Dutton.
The family expresses a special thank you to the ICU of Decatur General Hospital and all the doctors and nurses who helped care for Jimmy.
