Mr. W.D. Holden of the Center Star community, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2012 following a brief illness. He was 85. A time of visitation for family and friends will be Friday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkins East Chapel Funeral Home, Center Star. The graveside service, for family only, will be held Saturday with Bro. Bill Lyons officiating. Mr. Holden retired after 46 years at Reynolds Alloys where he was known as “Curly”. He was of the Church of Christ faith. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Maggie Holden; wife Martha Butler Holden, daughter of Tommie and Leadelle Joiner Butler; brothers Connie, Arthur, Harlon, Raymond, Jesse, Hiram, Louis and Luther; sisters Elizabeth, Della and Dorothy. He is survived by daughters Linda Smith and husband Billy of Center Star and Patricia Kay Pettus and husband Larry of Center Star, and a son William Tommy Holden of Center Star; grandchildren Chris Smith and wife Karen of Alexandria, VA, Whitney Lash of Pelham, Marissa Ramsey and husband Darrell, Jared, Adam, Emily, and Ashlee; great-grandchildren Sydney, Matt and William.
