Mr. Milton (Sis) Henry Sistrunk Sr., 74, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017, at his residence. He was born on Oct. 14, 1942, in Tuskegee, Alabama. He was the oldest of six children born to the union of the late Mr. Henry Sistrunk Sr. and the late Mrs. Bessie Cason Sistrunk. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Mr. Theodis Sistrunk and Mr. Henry (Shug) Sistrunk Jr, and sister, Mrs. Cora Pace.

He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Tuskegee, Alabama. He relocated to Florence, Alabama during his young adult years. He rededicated his life to Christ on Aug. 23, 1993, and became an active member of St. John Primitive Baptist Church. He served on the deacon board for 19 years and was also a member of the choir. He retired from Reynolds Alloy-Metals Plant on May 25, 1998, after 26 years of service. He then became an active member of the community. Mr. Sistrunk served as the president of Men’s Alliance for six years and as a member of the Masonic Hall Centennial Lodge No. 19. He served as the vice president of Peter’s Cemetery and a member of the Bible Band. He was an avid Auburn fan and loved riding his tractor. He never “sugar-coated” his words and was always direct, but fair. He had a hilarious, out-going, fun-loving personality and never met a stranger.

He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife of 30 years, Mrs. Mary Sistrunk, of Florence, Alabama; three sons, Ray Sistrunk, of Cullman, Alabama, Milton (Aubry) Sistrunk, of Florence, Alabama, and Otis Sistrunk, of Harvest, Alabama; three daughters, Melissa Sistrunk, of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, Delois Sistrunk Cole, of Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, and Ardetra (Dedric) Goodloe, of Florence, Alabama; brother, Joseph (Janice) Sistrunk, of Palmdale, California; sister, Mary (Ernest) Jones, of Radcliff, Kentucky; three aunts; seven sisters-in law; 17 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. today at St. John P.B. Church, Florence. Interment is in Peters Cemetery, Florence.

Directed by Trinity Memorial Funeral Home.
