janeJane Marcille Elkins Norton, age 87, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 16, 10-11 a.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home, Florence, with the service to follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Thomas Thornton and Brother William Brewer officiating. Interment will be at Greenview Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Mark Elkins, Mike Wilson, Brad Kerby, Shane Elkins, Will Pearson, David Bowling, Sandy Ketcham, Jonny Lowery, and Dwight Lowery. Tom Thorne, Steve Elkins, and Rick Dean will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Norton retired from First National Bank, Tuscumbia, Alabama, was a member of Muscle Shoals Baptist Church, and a member of LaGrange Historic National Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin M. Norton; parents, Melvin Hulet and Eula Ford Elkins; brothers, Travis Elkins, Malcolm Elkins, and Lawrence Elkins Sr; sisters, Mildred Kerby, Wilma Wilson, Jetta Lowery, and Verna Thorne; and nephews, Gordon Kerby, Johnathan Paul Lowery, and Melvin L. Elkins Jr.

Survivors include nieces and nephews she referred to as “the dirty dozen,” and she was referred to as “Aunt JoJo,” Sharon Williams (Bill), Dwight Lowery (Linda), Steve Elkins (Paula), Mike Wilson (Debbie), Wanda Elkins Ketcham (Sandy), Tom Thorne (Bonita), Brad Kerby (Shelia), Mary Bowling (David), and Mark Elkins (Teresa); numerous great-nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Peggy Norton Barton (Kenneth), of Spartanburg, South Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society or your favorite animal shelter.

A special thanks to ECM CCU nurses, Bobbie, Nathan and Don, and also Dr. Don Morris and Dr. Lango for their attentive care.

We extend our deepest appreciation to her very special caregivers, Rick Dean, Will Pearson, and Cindy Nelson.
