Mavis Emmalee Wilkes – Obituary

Mavis Emmalee Wilkes, 95 of Tuscumbia went to her Heavenly Home July 8, 2012. She was born in Bogalusa,  LA, December 20, 1916 to Emma Lee and Louis Blackwell

Visitation will be Thursday July 12 , 2012 from 10am-12pm  at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Funeral services to begin at 12:00 P.M.  in the  chapel with burial to follow at Colbert Memorial Gardens. Officiating is  Brother Mark Mayfield and Brother T.A. Duke.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents,  husband Claude Wilkes Sr., son, Claude Wilkes Jr. and brothers, Ernest, Odis and Archie Blackwell.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Judith Harrington of Tuscumbia, and Bert ( Gene) White of Wich

ta KS.

 

Five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and eight great-great- grandchildren

 

Ms. Mavis was employed by Hatton Head Start, Webster Elementary and McBride Elementary until her 90th birthday

 She was a faithful member of Leighton Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She will be remembered for her sweet smile and love for everyone she met.
