E.A. “Jim” Cunningham – Obituary

EAE.A. “Jim” Cunningham passed away on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was 81 years old and was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Kay Cunningham; his parents, E.A. Cunningham Sr. and Flora Belle Cunningham; and his siblings, Elaine Cunningham, Mary Belle Estes, Donald Cunningham, J.T. Cunningham, Maxine Weeks, Betty Sue Cunningham, Baby Lou Cunningham, Earl Cunningham and Bearl Cunningham.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Sabrina Cunningham; his son, Chris Cunningham; his brothers, Solon Cunningham and Olan Cunningham (Flo); his grandchildren, Tiffany Savincki (Stephen), Justin Carter (Jennifer), Casen Bryant and Elijah Fowler; and his great-grandchildren, Loren Carter, Ashlyn Savincki, Lannah Carter and Claire Bryant.
Jim graduated from the University of Alabama, was the captain of the 1956 Crimson Tide football team, and was the recipient of the Frank Thomas Award. After college he continued his love for football by coaching at Tate High School in Pensacola, Florida; Carbon Hill High School in Carbon Hill, Alabama; and B.B. Comer High School in Sylacauga, Alabama.
Jim left coaching and went to work for State Farm Insurance where he served more than 30 years before retiring.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel at Kilgore Green Funeral Home in Jasper, Alabama, today at 1 p.m. The family will receive visitors from noon-1 p.m. Interment will be at Sunset Funeral Home Cemetery in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
A donation to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association in his honor may be given in lieu of flowers.
