Ella-Godwin-1432391088Ella Mae Hood Godwin departed this life on Saturday, May 23, 2015, at the age of 93 years, 2 months, 25 days. She was born in Franklin, Tennessee on February 28, 1922, the daughter of the late Sam William and Louiza Minerva (Nervie) Jones Hood.

Mrs. Godwin was a homemaker and a member of the New Harmony Baptist Church. She had lived in the Saltillo and Cerro Gordo community, and had worked at the Cerro Gordo School.

She is survived by her daughters, Evelyn Scott of Lexington, Tennessee, Margaret McFalls and Edith Childers both of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchild, Richard Martin and wife, Lynn of Collierville, Tennessee; great grandchildren, Andrew Martin and Daniel Martin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Harbet Godwin; brothers, George, John, Joe, and Jack Hood; twin sisters, Annie Lee and Maggie Belle Hood; sisters, Lula Ferrell and Hazel Winstead.
