James Elbert Thompson – Obituary

James-Thompson-1417022516James Elbert Thompson of Waynesboro, TN was born March 6, 1934 in Wayne County, TN, the son of the late Louish Benjamin and Ena B. Howell Thompson. He was united in marriage to Margaret Ann Scott on April 13, 1957.

Mr. Thompson was a contractor/truck driver and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clifton, Tennessee. He had worked with Hassell and Hughes Lumber Company, Shull Trucklines and Thompson Trucking.

Mr. Thompson departed this life on Wedesday, November 26, 2014 at his home at the age of 80 Years, 8 Months, 20 Days.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ann Scott Thompson of Waynesboro, TN; sons, James Lynn Thompson and wife, Deborah of Columbia, TN, Waymond Lee Thompson and wife, Jennifer of Waynesboro, TN, Kenneth Dewayne Thompson and wife, Sandra and Robert Earl Thompson and wife, Sandy all of Savannah, TN, Blake Thompson and wife, Miranda of Adamsville, TN; a daughter, Joann Thompson Morris and husband, Scott of Adamsville, TN; 15 Grandchildren; 17 Great-Grandchildren; a sister, Jessie Mae Thompson Tatum of Waynesboro, TN; nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by a brother, Eunice Faye Thompson.

Services will be Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church, Clifton, Tennessee, with Kelby Wardlow, Paul David Scott, Randall Runions officiating. Burial will follow in Walker Cemetery, Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County directing.
Pallbearers will be Andy Thompson, Kevin Thompson, Scott Thompson, Seth Sparks, Alex Sparks and James Thompson. Honorary pallbearer will be Shane Thompson.

Visitation will be Friday, November 28, 2014 from 5 pm to 9 pm and Saturday, November 29, 2014 from 10 am until service time at the First Baptist Church, Clifton, TN.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be given to the First Baptist Church, Clifton, TN or to the family.
