Two Month Drug Investigation Nets Two Arrests

Brian Stephen GarrettMORGAN COUNTY-On Wednesday, October 29th the Morgan County Sheriff’s Departments Drug Task Force executed a warrant at 224 Harold Drive in Decatur.  Here is how Sheriff Ana Franklin describe events leading up to the arrest of two suspects:

“On Wednesday, October 29, 2014, that the Morgan County Drug Task Force after a 2 month long investigation, executed a Search Warrant at the residence located at 224 Harold Dr. in Decatur, Al. Agents over the past months had been receiving information that Methamphetamine was being manufactured and sold at the residence. Agents had been advised that numerous persons were providing Brian Stephen Garrett (w/m 43) and Stacey Haggermaker Garrett (w/f 43) with cold medicine containing Pseudoephedrine. Agents had also learned that both subjects were making regular purchases of cold medicine containing Pseudoephedrine themselves. Agents entered the residence just after 4:30 pm on October 29, 2014 and made contact with Brian Stephen Garret within the residence. Agents located a storage container inside residence that contained chemicals, materials and equipment to Manufacture Methamphetamine. Agents also recovered

Methamphetamine, Ecstasy, Pseudoephedrine, digital scales and two loaded semi automatic hand guns. During execution of Search Warrant, Agents made contact with Stacey Haggermaker Garrett as she arrived home. Agents also discovered an array of Surveillance camera equipment in operation that covered the entire property. Code Enforcement Officer for the city of Decatur was requested on scene and Condemned the residence due to the operation of a Methamphetamine Laboratory. Mud Tavern VFD was requested to decontaminate both subjects at the scene.
Both subjects, Brian Stephen Garrett and Stacey Haggermaker Garrett were arrested for the Unlawful Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree- Methamphetamine, (Bond set at $100,000.00) Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine, (Bond set at $10,000.00) and for the Unlawful Possession of Felony Drug Paraphernalia (Bond set at $10,000.00) by Circuit Court Judge Haddock. Bonds totaling $120,000.00. More arrests are expected, investigation is ongoing.”
