November….A Hint Of Christmas And Music For Sure

colbert county tourism featuredCOLBERT COUNTY-A parade, a concert, and a country Christmas are among the many activities in Colbert County in November.

Susann Hamlin, executive director of Colbert County Tourism and Convention Bureau, said November is traditionally one of the busiest months as holiday celebrations begin to ramp up.

The events kick off Nov. 8 in downtown Sheffield with the monthly Second Saturday celebration,  4-9 p.m. on Montgomery Avenue,  that includes music, arts and crafts and activities for children.

The Tuscumbia Veterans Day Parade begins at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11. The parade through downtown honors all veterans.  A Veterans Day ceremony will follow on the east steps of the Colbert County Courthouse.

Tuscumbia’s Downtown Christmas Open House is 5-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13. Downtown stores will be open late for holiday shopping.

The Five Jets with Ken Loveless will perform two shows (6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.) at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, 617 Hwy. 72, Tuscumbia, on Tuesday, Nov. 18. Tickets are $15. For more details, call 256-381-4417.

Christmas in the Country, a celebration reminiscent of an early pioneer Christmas in Alabama, is from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, Saturday, Nov. 22 and Sunday, Nov. 23 at the LaGrange College Site, 1461, LaGrange College Road, Leighton. Homemade baked goods, gifts and ornaments will be available. For more details call 256-446-9324.
