The Rev. Dr. Anderson Todd Jr., a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, transitioned away on Saturday, July 26, 2014. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at noon at St. John’s African Methodist Episcopal Church, 807 Madison Ave., Montgomery, Alabama, with Pastor James E. Arnell officiating and the Right Rev. Philip R. Cousin Sr., retired bishop, will be the eulogist. Interment will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service. He leaves to cherish his precious memories a loving, caring, devoted, and faithful wife, Mrs. Verla L. Todd; five dedicated children, Anderson Todd III (Cherrye), Senora Lockett (Joe), the Rev. Michael A. Todd Sr. (Lorena), and Selina G. Todd, all of Birmingham, Alabama, and Verla Denise Cottrell (Curtis), Nashville, Tennessee; spiritual son and daughter, Ira Simmons and Joyce Simmons, Montgomery Alabama; five grandchildren, Elena White (Kori), Birmingham, Alabama, Michael A. Todd Jr. (Elida) Fayetteville, North Carolina, Anderson Todd IV (Stephanie), Charlotte, North Carolina, Angela Williams, and Marlon Todd, both of Birmingham, Alabama; 14 great- grandchildren, Olivia White, Noah White, Jonah White, Anderson Todd V, Greyson Todd, Zion Williams, Josiah Williams, Sage Williams, Salah Williams, Zayla Knight, Karrington Todd, Michilie Todd, Mykayla Todd, and TaMarla Todd; niece, Malinda Todd, Chicago, Illinois; and a host of extended family members and friends throughout African Methodism.
