Arrest Made In Vehicle Theft….Many Stolen Items Recovered

COLBERT COUNTY-The Colbert County Sheriff’s Department has made an arrest resulting in the recovery of a number of stolen items.  Here is a list of charges and items recovered from the suspect as reported by The Colbert County sheriff’s Office:

“Christopher Franklin Kilpatrick, age 35, lot 9, 1425 hwy 157, Leighton has been charged with the following:

Theft of Property 1st degree(motor vehicle)
Theft of Property 2nd degree X 4
Burglary 2nd degree
Unlawful Breaking & Entering Motor Vehicle X 5
Bonds totaling $40,000

 On July 10, 2014 the CCSO  got report of the theft of a 1993 Chevrolet truck, a garmin gps,tools, hunting items, a Remington 1100 12ga shotgun, and a 22cal Chipmonk bolt action rifle were taken from Lowery lane in Tuscumbia.  During the early morning hours of July 10th there were 8 additional vehicles broken into, beginning on hwy 157 and continuing through Spring Valley community.

     On 7-15-14 Deputies located a blue 1993 Chevrolet truck that had been driven into the woods on Fossick Lane, Cherokee.  The truck was identified as being stolen on 7-10-14.  On 7-16-14 the truck was located on Fossick lane  a witness  stated that they had seen a subject parked on Fossick lane  in a blue Chevrolet truck.  They stated that the subject was Chris Kilpatrick in the blue chevrolet truck and it was parked next to a white vehicle occupied by a female, Kilpatricks girlfriend.  She stated that she was present when Kilpatrick drove the truck into the woods on Fossick lane in Cherokee.  Kilpatrick walked back to her car and they drove home.  Invs’ made contact with Kilpatrick.  after being mirandized he admitted taking the truck.  He stated that he returned to the chevrolet truck the next day in his girlfriends truck and got the property out of it and brought it all home.  Kilpatrick signed a consent to search .  Invs’ found numerous items in the bedroom that had been reported stolen from the  vehicles on hwy 157 and in Spring Valley.  A search was conducted on the girlfriends truck and numerous stolen items were recovered there also.  Kilpatrick is still in jail.

One pair of Oakley sunglasses
One set of Titleist golf clubs
One 2000 watt Audiopipe Amplifier
One pair of prescription eyeglasses
Numerous credit cards and a checkbook”
