FLORENCE – When Grand Jury indictments were handed down this month against accused kiddie-porn collector and alleged unconscious-woman molester, David Erick Gray, it came as no surprise. Gray, 31, of Killen is out of jail on a $100-thousand bond. He is charged with over 10-thousand felony counts.

Gray was arrested September 7 after an unidentified person reportedly found a trove of child pornography on his personal computer at his home on Brush Creek Road. His bond was originally set at $750-thousand, given the nature and quantity of the images. At a hastily called bond hearing in October, Gray’s attorney, Leslie Johnson requested a bond reduction hearing so the accused man could attend a sex-addiction treatment facility in Pennsylvania. Through a series of bond  hearings, his bond was eventually reduced to $100-thousand, all strenuously opposed by District Attorney Chris Connolly.

According to court records, Gray attended the treatment facility, passed the program and returned to Lauderdale County. He is residing in the custody of relatives. His bond is still placed at $100-thousand.GRAY, DAVID ERICK

The Quad-Cities Daily asked D.A. Connolly if he believes that Gray might be a flight risk, given his financial resources. Was this relatively low bond, in comparison to what the amount had been placed upon him previously, enough of a deterrent?

Connolly replied, “The bond condition includes the requirement that he live here. He has signed a (waiver of extradition).” He continued, “If he runs off, we will find him.”
