Gerald Holaway – Obituary

Funeral services for Gerald Holaway, 81, of Decatur, will be Sunday, November 17, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jesse White and Scott Justice officiating. Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Holaway passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born February 13, 1932, in Logan to Edmon and Virginia Holaway. Mr. Holaway was a U.S. Army veteran, certified machinist, and a member of First Assembly of God in Hartselle. He loved to fish and cherished his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Decatur Chamber of Commerce and had received the businessman of the year award.

Mr. Holaway was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Larry Holaway and Jimmy Don Holaway; and also by his grandchild, Alex Hanna.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nola Holaway; daughters, Linda Hanna, Jane Patterson and Cheryl Justice (Scott); grandchildren, Brad Hartselle, Brandon Hartselle (Nancy), Sarah Justice Mize, Ryan Justice (Jessica), Adam Hanna (Kayla), Hunter Hanna and Kyle Justice; great-grandchildren, Laura Mize, Emily Mize, and Charlie Hartselle.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Brad Hartselle, Brandon Hartselle, Ryan Justice, Adam Hanna, Hunter Hanna and Kyle Justice.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Hector, George Mangum, Corky Hill, Mike Hines, Charlie Wilburn and employees of Holaway’s Food Market.
