SHEFFIELD – Let’s get the elephant in the room taken care of first. The last 30 years have not been kind to 3614 Jackson Highway, the iconic studio built by THE SWAMPERS. Not kind at all.
However, the last few months have indeed shown promise. When Rodney Hall and a group of benefactors, who over the past year, put together the funds to purchase the property, things started looking up.
Now Hall, Chairman of the Not-For-Profit Corporation that owns the old studio, is starting the journey that will transform the old building back into a functioning recording studio.
Chinese philosopher Laozi, in his famous quote said, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
This Thursday, 3614 jackson Highway’s “First Step” is a cleanup brigade. Hall posted on the facebook PAGE, “MUSCLE SHOALS SOUND STUDIOS”, “CLEAN UP BRIGADE – Come Help us Clean up 3614 Jackson Highway Thursday November 7th 10:00 am.. Help us get this place open..we’re getting close!!!”
He must be serious. So anyone who wants to, is invited to stop by and clean some windows, clean some walls, haul some trash (the place is pretty full of trash), and connect with lots of people who love the old studio and want to see it back in tip-top shape.
