Library Screens Lester’s Rousing THREE MUSKETEERS Sunday

posterFLORENCE-The free film series The Screening Room: Classics, Crowd-Pleasers, Cult Favorites and Neglected Gems continues at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, with a special 40th-anniversary screening of The Three Musketeers (1973) – 3 musketeersdirector Richard Lester’s witty, high-spirited, action-packed movie adaptation of the classic novel by Alexandre Dumas – at the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library, 350 N. Wood Ave., Florence, Alabama.
The all-star cast includes Oliver Reed, Richard Chamberlain, Michael York, Raquel Welch, Frank Finlay, Faye Dunaway, Christopher Lee, Jean-Pierre Cassel, Geraldine Chaplin, Simon Ward, Roy Kinnear, Spike Milligan and Charlton Heston.
The series’ September lineup concludes at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, with Jack something-wicked-1Clayton’s screen version of Ray Bradbury’s chilling supernatural novel Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983), starring Jason Robards, Jonathan Pryce, Pam Grier, Diane Ladd, James Stacy, Howard Dodson and Royal Dano.
The series – sponsored by the library, Pillar of Fire and Bookmarks Coffee Shop – is organized and hosted by film historian Terry Pace, who teaches English at the University of North Alabama. Admission is free.  For details, call the library at 256-764-6564 or Pillar of Fire at 256-366-4512.
