Yvonne “Vonnie” Davis passed away October 5th, 2024 with her family by her side. She was 67 years old.
Vonnie graduated from Hazel Green High School in 1975. She spent several years as a seamstress at Lee Jeans Co and CF Flag Co, making life-long friends along the way.
In 1978, she married James Donald Davis III, starting a family that would become the most important thing in her life. Daughter Darla would come along in 1981, followed by her son Jimmy in 1985.
Vonnie made her home in New Market the hub for all family gatherings. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and birthdays were always crowded as she hosted a family that seemed to grow every year.
Vonnie loved to travel with her family, and especially enjoyed trips to the beach. She began collecting lighthouses, sand and shells from beaches across the country from Gulf Shores to Georgia to New Jersey, with Savannah and Tybee Island having a special place in her heart.
As an active member of the Holiness Church for 33 years, Vonnie touched the lives of countless people, most notably with her smile and her sweet and meek spirit.
She was preceded in death by her father Billy McNeese in 1991.
Vonnie is survived by her husband of 45 years, Don Davis; her daughter, Darla and Mike Brown; son, Jimmy and Jennifer Davis; her mother, Ezella McNeese; siblings, Peggy Morrison, Dwayne McNeese, Anita Taylor, and Kris McNeese; beloved grandchildren, Matthew Brown, Ryan Brown and Riley Davis, and several much-loved nieces and nephews.
