FLORENCE-NextGen Shoals, a young professionals organization of the Shoals Chamber of Commerce, will host a mayoral debate for all qualified candidates of Florence, Sheffield, Tuscumbia, and Muscle Shoals at the University of North Alabama’s Norton Auditorium on Tuesday, July 19.
The debate will be segmented by city for those candidates in contested campaigns. The debate will begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by a question and answer period for all Shoals area candidates.
“We need help from the public on this,” said NextGen Shoals member Chelsea Kauchick. “We’ve created a form for the public to enter their question for the candidate(s) of their choice. We will pull from these submissions during the event. To submit a question, the public can simply click the link provided on our NextGen Shoals Facebook page.” (https://www.facebook.com/NextGen-Shoals-1118445291553077/ )
“We are very excited to be able to present a debate like this in the Shoals area,” added NextGen Shoals Chair Alex Parrish. “One of our main goals as a group is to make sure our young professionals have an opportunity to impact the community in a positive manner, and bringing together our local communities to get to know their candidates will accomplish that. We look forward to hearing how each candidate plans to run his or her campaign and, if elected, lead each of the four cities in the best way possible.”
The 2016 Shoals Mayoral Debate is a free event open to the public.
