TUSCUMBIA-The Tennessee Valley Arts Association have two upcoming events that you should see. The first is a film screening of Yesterday at the Ritz in Sheffield and the second is an art showing, Avant: Five Contemporary Voices.
Celebrate the music of The Beatles in this inventive musical romantic comedy from director Danny Boyle. The screening will be Friday, January 27 at 7:00PM
Jack Malik (Himesh Patel) is a struggling singer-songwriter in an English seaside town whose dreams of fame are rapidly fading, despite the fierce devotion and support of his childhood best friend, Ellie (Lily James). After a freak bus accident during a mysterious global blackout, Jack wakes up to discover that The Beatles have never existed. Performing songs by the greatest band in history to a world that has never heard them, Jack becomes an overnight sensation.

The Tennessee Valley Museum of Art presents the work of five contemporary artists, each exploring innovative ideas and form through the mediums of drawing, textile, painting, collage, and sculpture. The event will be on virw from January 31 until March 11 at the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art. There will be an Artist Panel and Reception on Saturday, February 4 from 3:00PM until 5:00Pm with the panel starting at 4:00PM.
Melinda Crider, Dariana Dervis, Tracie Noles-Ross, Miriam Omura, and Chiharu Roach are all currently based in Birmingham, AL, but bring experiences from throughout the American South, as well as from Japan and the UK.
Exhibition hours are Tuesday-Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday 10am-5pm.
Admission to the TVMA is $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free for members of the Tennessee Valley Art Association.
