Yancey Stewart Davis – Obituary

Yancey Stewart Davis, 45, died suddenly Sunday, February 12, 2017 while jogging on the Natchez Trace Parkway. Born on July 18, 1971 to Ronald Stewart and Mary Myers Davis in Jasper, Ala, Yancey grew up in Hamilton, Ala. and graduated from Hamilton High. He joined the Alabama National Guard at age 17, with his parent’s permission. A patriotic American, Yancey spent 20 years serving his fellowman including one deployment to Iraq with the 877th Engineering Company, serving as Executive Officer. He attended Freed-Hardeman University where he met his wife, Terrie Brimingham. They married in Booneville on June 25, 1994. Yancey ultimately received his BS degree from the University of Alabama (Roll Tide) and furthered his formal education with two masters degrees; one from Troy State University and one from Ann Marie Catholic University in Connecticut. His first employment was with NTN Bower in Hamilton, Ala. At the time of this departure, he was employed as a contract specialist with the Department of Interior. Yancey was an outdoorsman, a devoted jogger and was training for a triathlon when he collapsed and died on Sunday morning. Yancey was totally devoted to and doted over his wife, daughter and family. He was strong and steady—a thinker and a doer without a lot of fuss. He and his family were faithful members of the Lee Acres Church of Christ in Tupelo.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Booneville Church of Christ with his brother in law, Minister Tony Brimingham officiating. Burial will follow at Snowdown Church of Christ Cemetery in Prentiss Co. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5PM-8PM and from noon – service time Wednesday all at the Booneville Church of Christ, 406 North 2nd St., Booneville, MS. 38829. Holland Funeral Directors -Tupelo Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Terrie Davis of Tupelo; mother, Mary Myers Davis of Guntown; a daughter, Millie Davis of the home; a sister, Elizabeth “Jill” Davis Coker (Rorie) of Guntown; two nephews, Kell and Jude Coker; two nieces, Lauren and Megan Brimingham; a borther in law, Tony Brimingham (Jana) of Hendersonville, TN and a host of cousins, other extended family and a multitude of friends.

He was preceded by his father; Ronald; one brother-in-law, Timmy Brimingham; his mother and father in-law, Gene and Sue Brimingham.

Pallbearers will be Philip Hammitte, Kevin Clark, Shawn Arnold, Brian Thomas, Eddie Green, and Mike Green. Honorary pallbearer will be Rorie Coker.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Millie Davis Educational Fund, c/o Lee Acres Church of Christ, 1400 Lawndale Drive, Tupelo, MS. 38801
