Wyatt-S-Hester-1455375560Wyatt S. “Steve” Hester, age 91 of Arab died Saturday – February 13, 2016 at Shepherds Cove, Hospice of Marshall County in Albertville, Al. He was born on September 30, 1924 the son of Mack Cager Hester & Clara Lee Overton Hester in St. Clair County Alabama. He and his wife who preceded him in death on July 10, 2013, Lassie Lee Pendergrass Hester had called Arab home since 1962. He retired from the Redstone Arsenal in 1982. Mr. Hester served in the U.S. Army in WWII. He was a devoted member of the Arab Masonic Lodge 663 for more than 61 years, was a Past Worshipful Master and had served as Past Secretary for 30 years. He was also a member of The Amanda King Chapter 472 order of the Eastern Stars, Scottish Rite Valley of Huntsville 32nd degree KCCH and Cahaba Shrine Temple in Huntsville, Al.
He was a member of Gilliam Springs Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son: Grady Hester (Teresa); daughters: Ann Jones (Steve), Martha Pritchard (Bruce) and Sarah Braswell; 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law Stephanie & David Thompson, four brothers and four sisters.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday – February 16, 2016 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Brother Jamey Pruitt officiating. Burial will be in Diamond Cemetery in Warrenton area. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be members of The Arab Masonic Lodge 663.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday – February 15, 2016 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
