MUSCLE SHOALS-Are you having difficulty attracting and retaining qualified workers to fill jobs within your industry? What will your workforce needs be four or five years from now? Today’s challenging economy means young people need to make the best career choice possible.
The Worlds of Work (WOW) Expo can help by offering a unique hands-on event where the top employers in our region are coming to together to display real career options available with the companies in Northwest Alabama. This event is designed to allow teens to experience what industries in our area has to offer them as they begin to decide their future career paths. By attending WOW, teens will develop a clearer understanding of necessary skills and educational requirements needed to better compete for future career opportunities.
The WOW event will be October 25th and 26th at Northwest Shoals Community College, Muscle Shoals Campus. The campus will be closed for these two days with companies spread throughout campus displaying their industries for students, parents, and local community partners.
The goal of the event is to attract youth to careers. More than 3,500 eighth grade students from six counties in the Northwest Alabama area will be invited to attend and explore potential career opportunities for their future. Nine “worlds” have been identified as potential career pathways to jobs in our area. Each “world” will provide hands-on demonstrations and interactive activities to create relevant job awareness for the students.

- World of Public Service
- World of Cyber/IT
- World of Transportation/Logistics
- World of Healthcare
