Woodrow “Sonny” Fling, Jr., age 78, of Ethridge, TN passed away Tuesday, March 05, 2024. He was a native of LaGrange, GA, retired from Wendy’s, and a minister for the Church of Christ for over 50 years. Mr. Fling served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow Wilson Fling, Sr. and Ilene Bailey Fling; his first wife, Louise Stamper Fling; one brother, Jerry Fling (Debbie); and two sisters, Sandra Fling and Jean Fling.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Fling of Ethridge, TN; one son, Byron Fling of LaGrange, GA; two step-sons, Tracy Stephens (Julie) of College Grove, TN and Jon Stephens (Jena) of Cullman, AL; one step-daughter, Karla Brown (David) of Loretto, TN; four sisters, Shirley Gladney (Wally) of Roanoke, AL, Reba Ray (Ron) of LaGrange, GA, Martha Fling of LaGrange, GA, and Rhonda Pruitt of Lanett, AL; one brother, Tony Fling (Allison) of Woodbury, GA; and two step-grandchildren, Charlie Stephens and Isabella Stephens.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Funeral services will be conducted at Crescent Ridge Church of Christ at 11:00 AM Friday, March 08, 2024, with Ben Williamson officiating. Interment will follow at Ridout’s Forest Crest Cemetery in Birmingham, AL. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Fling requested donations be made to 31st Street Church of Christ Building Fund c/o Jerry Chandler, 11 White Haven Court, Columbus, GA 31909.
