Woman Suffering From Alzheimer’s Found In Home With Her Deceased Husband

decatur police carDECATUR- A woman suffering from Alzheimer’s was found with her dead husband in their home.  It appears that Jesse Claude Kirby had been dead for sometime. Here is how the Decatur Police describe the incident:

“SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE/INCIDENT: 

On March 7, 2014 at 2:26 pm, Patrol Officers with the Decatur Police Department were dispatched to 1632 Chestnut St SE to a welfare check where 78 year old Doris Kirby and her husband 75 year old Jessie Claude Kirby lived. Family and friends were concerned because they haven’t heard from the couple in months. 

When officers arrived they saw Doris inside the house. Doris suffers from Alzheimer’s and was unaware that the officers were trying to check on her well being. 

The officers looked through the windows of the house and located Jessie who was deceased lying in his bed. Officers gained entry into the residence. Doris was in poor health and transported to Decatur Morgan Hospital for treatment.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit and Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn were notified and responded to the scene.

Jessie suffered from multiple health problems. There was no sign of foul play. Jessie died from natural causes.”
