TENNESSEE VALLEY-8:25 p.m. Update: Service has been restored to Verizon customers in Tennessee some of Alabama may still be without service.
Verizon Wireless experienced interruption in service for some customers throughout the Southeast today. The outage lasted approximately five hours. Engineers were able to identify and resolve the issue and service was restored by 8:20 p.m. EST, a statement from the company said.
An AT&T spokesperson previously said a “hardware related issue” has caused the widespread mobile service outage that has affected customers of multiple carriers in the Southeast.
“Engineers have pinpointed a hardware-related issue and are working to restore service as quickly as possible,” Cathy Lewandowski, an AT&T spokesperson, said in a statement Tuesday evening.
The outage has affected multiple carriers, including Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile, as well as AT&T.
