TENNESSEE VALLEY-Snow and sleet are being reported throughout the area.  The U.S. National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Statement:

Forecast for Tuesday, February 9:

LIGHT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS POSSIBLE OVER PORTIONS OF THE TENNESSEE VALLEY FROM EARLY TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON…

A STORM SYSTEM WILL BRING A VERY COLD AIRMASS ACROSS THE TENNESSEE VALLEY BY TONIGHT AND TUESDAY… ALONG WITH SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS. THE SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE DAY ON TUESDAY… BEFORE TAPERING OFF BY TUESDAY EVENING. NORTHWEST AND NORTH CENTRAL ALABAMA WILL SEE SNOWFALL AMOUNTS FROM A HALF TO LESS THAN AN INCH.

TEMPERATURES SHOULD GENERALLY REMAIN AT OR SLIGHTLY BELOW FREEZING DURING THE DAY ON TUESDAY… WITH A FEW SLICK SPOTS BECOMING POSSIBLE ON TUESDAY DUE TO THE SNOW SHOWERS. THE SLICK SPOTS WILL BE ESPECIALLY ALONG BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES BY TUESDAY MORNING… CONTINUING THROUGH THE DAY. CAUTION WHILE DRIVING IS ADVISED.

OF SOUTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE.

.DAY ONE…TODAY AND TONIGHT…

A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL MOVE ACROSS THE AREA TODAY WITH RAIN
TRANSITIONING TO A RAIN AND SNOW MIX BY LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND THEN
TO ALL SNOW AFTER SUNSET…FROM WEST TO EAST. SCATTERED LIGHT SNOW
SHOWERS ARE POSSIBLE TONIGHT WITH LESS THAN A HALF AN INCH OF
ACCUMULATION EXPECTED WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS IN NORTHEAST ALABAMA
AND SOUTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE AND IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY…

SCATTERED LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE ON TUESDAY WITH ANOTHER
HALF AN INCH POSSIBLE IN NORTHEAST ALABAMA AND SOUTHERN MIDDLE
TENNESSEE AND LESS THAN A HALF AN INCH ELSEWHERE.

COLD OVERNIGHT LOW TEMPERATURES WILL ALSO OCCUR WITH LOWS TUESDAY
NIGHT DROPPING INTO THE UPPER TEENS AND LOWER 20S AND A FEW DEGREES
COLDER ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT. WIND CHILL VALUES BOTH NIGHTS WILL BE
AROUND 10 TO 15 DEGREES.”
