TUSCUMBIA-This March, inspired by Music In Our Schools Month®, the Alabama Music Hall of Fame featured the artwork of five elementary schools from around Colbert County, expressing the impact that music has on the students. The program was intended to celebrate music in Alabama’s classrooms and in students’ lives. The artwork will be on display from March 28th through April 29th.
Five elementary schools consisting of Gifted and PACE students will be sharing how some of their favorite songs make them feel through sketches and drawings. Participating school are: Cherokee Elementary, Colbert Heights, Hatton Elementary, Leighton Elementary, and New Bethel Elementary. The drawings will be on display at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame beginning March 28th.
Visitors to the museum had the option of filling out a card to vote for their favorite, most expressive piece of work. The winners were announced on April 13th, and prizes and ribbons were passed out to the winners. The winner’s pieces will continue to be on display at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame until the end of the school year.
And the winners were…..1st place Alyssa Smallwood, 2nd place Belle Hamm, 3rd place Jaxon Freemon and the Alabama Award went Marly Jacques.
