Wilma Nelson – Obituary

Wilma Nelson, 85 passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the Diversicare Nursing Facility after an extended illness. She was born in Lauderdale County, MS on April 13, 1932, the daughter of Thomas Clyde and Emma Everett Phillips. Wilma loved to travel and lived all over the U.S including Pearl Harbor, HI; Charlestown, SC; Norfolk, VA; Orange County, CA; Lakeland, FL. One of her favorite jobs was that of a cashier at the Knotts Berry Farm. She returned to Mississippi in 1976 and has resided in Tupelo since that time. Wilma also enjoyed music, all kinds of sports, and was an avid fan of the Seattle Seahawks.

Graveside Services will be 1 PM Saturday at the Pine Forest Cemetery, Collinsville, MS with her nephew, Rev. Bobby Harrell officiating. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. There will be no local visitation

Wilma leaves behind her children, Charlotte Ann Gressett, Wilma Joy Chapman, Michael Scott Gressett, Lorie Denise Sears, Thomas John Coleman and Chester Robert Nelson, fourteen grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Evelyn, Bernice, Clydene and Doris; and her husband Chester R. Nelson.
