Wilma Jean Poole Hunt, age 87, passed away Friday, September 20, 2024. She was married to her loving husband Marvin Donald Hunt for 65 years before his passing in 2020. Wilma and Marvin were both natives of Huntsville but lived in many locations in the states while he was in the military. They returned to Huntsville upon Marvin’s military retirement in 1972. Wilma is survived by her sisters, Gloria Andelin and Patsy Burroughs; sons, Mark Hunt (Cynthia Palmer) and Gary Hunt (Carol Lenoir); grandchildren, Jennifer Hunt Harp (Michael Harp), Harley Hunt, Emily Hunt, and Laura Hunt; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Harp and Ainsley Harp. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; son, Steven Hunt; parents, Louis Poole and Lula Edge Poole; brother, James Poole; and sisters. Louise Head, Bernice Senechal, and Barbara Kirk.

Upon returning to Huntsville in 1972, Wilma attended Drake Technical School and obtained her LPN license. She worked for many years as a nurse in Dr. Myer’s Oral Surgery office and later as a nurse for OB/GYN doctors Alison and Crowson.

Wilma was a kind and loving person who never met a stranger. She could strike up a conversation with anyone, and many times did. Family meant everything to Wilma. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her children and fawning over her grandchildren. Her kindness and thoughtfulness towards others set an example for her children on how to conduct themselves.  She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.

Wilma was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 2, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville. It will be followed by a graveside service at Maple Hill Cemetery to honor and remember Wilma.
