Willis “Bill” Hart – Obituary

Funeral for Willis “Bill” Hart, 92, of Hartselle will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 03, 2015 at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Charles Shaddix officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday March 04, 2015 at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma with Selma Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Hart was born March 16, 1922 in California to Ora Lee Hart and Gladys Alberta Coons Hart. He passed away March 01, 2015 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.
Mr. Hart was a member of the 154th Weather Reconnaissance Squadron during World War II. He flew P38 Lighting’s when stationed in Italy.
He lived in Selma before moving to Hartselle. While living in Hartselle he was a member of the First Baptist Church, Prime Tymers, Lion’s Club, and the American Legion. He made several mission trips with his church and also worked with Habitat for Humanity. He spoke at elementary schools about his experiences as a veteran and loved his volunteer work at The Caring Place.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and first wife Barbara Bryant.
He is survived by wife, Sarah “Pete” Hart; daughters, Kay Traylor (Tommy) of Selma, Nancy Phillips (Buzz) of Montgomery, Step-daughter, Judy Tedford (Steve) of Gulf Shores; step-sons, Greg Morton of Hartselle, Conrad Morton (Lisa) of Priceville, Ronny Morton (Regina) of Collierville, TN, fourteen grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren.
